VENTURI
Faster means cheaper — the throat trades pressure for speed, exactly priced.
Use the simulation above to change the variables and play through the guided stages. The explanation below describes the default starting values; the simulation updates its explanation as you experiment.
Setup
A contraction makes the second station faster and lowers its static pressure.
Continuity
The fluid cannot pile up: A₁v₁ = A₂v₂, the same volume per second through every cross-section. This is the hydraulic press’s fluid and the tackle’s rope making a third appearance — conservation of stuff dictates the kinematics before any force is discussed.
Bernoulli
The contraction raises kinetic energy by spending pressure; an extreme case can reach cavitation.
Flow
The particles speed up between the stations, while the manometers show the corresponding pressure drop. The transition transit is presentational; both stations are exact.
Audit
Audited: continuity and Bernoulli close exactly, and the signed pressure/area inversion recovers Q for either a contraction or an expansion.
